Hair loss staging guide
We utilise the industry-standard ‘Norwood pattern’ scale to assess your current stage of hair loss and determine the approach of your full SMP procedure. Delaying SMP procedures may lead to increased sessions as you progress through the stages of the scale, and is therefore important to take action as soon as possible.
Stage 1
The first stage of hair loss. Very early signs of hair thinning or receding hairline.
Stage 2
Slight recession of the hairline around the temples and forehead area.
Stage 3
Hairline deeply recessed and client may also be balding at the crown area.
Stage 4
Hairline recession more deeper than stage 2 and 3. Visible balding at crown area.
Stage 5
Two areas of hair loss now larger than stage 4. Band of hair is narrower and sparse.
Stage 6
Banding across the top has now joined with the balding at the crown of the head.
Stage 7
The most severe stage of hair loss. Only banding around the sides of the head remain.
SCARRING/BURNS/other
As well as male pattern baldness, we can also apply SMP to clients with scarring, burns or alopecia.
