Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves the application of micro-needles to deposit pigments on the scalp, creating the illusion of hair follicles. It’s an innovative solution for those dealing with hair loss or thinning hair. Our qualified SMP technician, Joe Small, specialises in delivering natural-looking results tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Absolutely! SMP is a versatile solution designed for both men and women experiencing various types of hair loss. Scalp Ethic provide personalised consultations to understand each client’s concerns and tailor the SMP treatment accordingly, ensuring optimal results for everyone.
The main benefit apart from having a great looking head of hair again is what it does to your confidence, after all that’s why we do it. I get as much pleasure seeing people’s personality change as I do see them with a hairstyle that looks great. The procedure itself is carried out normally in 3-4 sessions that each last for no more than 3 hours, depending on both the clients skin type and amount of SMP required. As it’s pigment that we use, it will start to fade through time but not for many years. The great thing is that you just come along for a touch up every so often to keep your hair looking great. Sunlight is your biggest enemy along with sunbeds etc, if you feel the need for a holiday and want to sunbath, just use a factor 30 + on your scalp which will keep your pigment looking great for years.
The cost of the procedure is found in our pricing tab but we can assure you it’s far less costly than a hair transplant. It won’t break the bank and of course if you require any additional treatment such as a touch up or a bit of fading as you continue to lose your hair, this will always cost less than the original outlay for the 1st procedure. We have layed out the pricing in a way that is easy to understand so you’ll have a good idea of how much it will cost even before you contact us to arrange a consultation. We also use what is called the Norwood – Hamilton scale of male pattern baldness to help you understand which procedure is most suitable for yourself. This is what will normally dictate what amount of treatment you will require. With female hair loss, the procedure and treatment differ slightly as there is not normally a large area that needs to be covered but perhaps areas that are thinning. This would be covered in your consultation so you will know exactly what type of treatment is required along with any costs.
The duration of the SMP procedure depends on the extent of the treatment. On average, a session can last from 2 to 4 hours, and usually requires 3 to 4 sessions. During the initial consultation, Amanda and Joe will assess your needs and provide a more accurate estimate based on your specific requirements.
Scalp Micropigmentation typically has minimal side effects, such as mild redness or swelling, which subside within a few days. Most clients can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. Amanda and Joe will provide detailed post-care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery process.
SMP results are long-lasting, but the longevity can vary based on individual factors. On average, results can last from 2 to 5 years before requiring a touch-up. While SMP is considered a semi-permanent solution, Scalp Ethic are dedicated to ensuring your satisfaction and offer maintenance sessions to prolong the effects of the treatment.
Most clients report that although not painful, scalp micropigmentation can be a little bit uncomfortable at times. SMP is much less painful than getting a traditional tattoo as the needle used to apply the pigment is extremely small and very fine and does not penetrate as deep into the skin. The benefits and results completely outweigh any discomfort during the process and there are no lingering pains or after-effects once the treatment is over.
SMP is now becoming extremely popular due to it’s almost undetectable and natural looking results.
Each hairline design and follicle procedure is completely bespoke to each client. We will match the pigment to your existing hair colour and skin tone and the result will look indistinguishable to a traditional buzz cut or shaved head with real hair.
Scalp micropigmentation is becoming the clear choice of procedure for men and women suffering from all forms of hair loss who are looking to correct this. SMP will provide completely natural results whilst being extremely cost-effective.
No you do not, and this is why SMP is extremely popular. Although redness may typically last two or three days with some clients, you can still go about your daily routine meaning minimum disruption to your daily schedule. We will provide you with complete after care instructions to help give you the best results and ensure your treatment looks great.
Yes, we often get clients who have had hair transplants but some parts of their scalp are still visible. SMP will disguise those problem areas to make your hair look fuller.
